About Guy
Guy du Blêt joined Orchestra Victoria in 1998 and holds the position of Principal Timpani. He has performed in concert, opera, ballet, tours, recordings and as director and soloist with the orchestra throughout Melbourne, Victoria, Sydney and Canberra. He has also performed with most of the Symphony Orchestras in Australia and overseas with the Malaysian Philharmonic and Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa in Japan.
Born in Melbourne, Guy studied in Brisbane, Hobart and Sydney. In 2007, he undertook studies in Berlin with Rainer Seegers, and later in 2013–14 completed a Master’s degree in historical performance at the University of Melbourne .
His favourite opera is Le Nozze de Figaro by Mozart, and his favourite ballet is Bella Figura from Jiří Kilian.
Guy plays on Hardtke timpani from Berlin which were built for the orchestra in 2014/15 and his hobby is making tambourines.
