About Phillip
Born in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1968, Philip Nixon has held the position of Tutti Violin with Orchestra Victoria for 14 years. He started taking music lessons at the young age of seven; he grew up to study with Elizabeth Morgan and Jan Sedivka in Australia, with David Takeno in London and with Lorand Fenyves at the University of Toronto. He has lived in Brisbane, London, Milan and Toronto and has performed with the Queensland Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and, since 2001, with Orchestra Victoria. He is the recipient of the EV Llewellyn Award, the Tsung Family Foundation Scholarship and the Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship and has toured Europe and South America with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Europe with Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie. He is inspired by “anyone who performs or composes with integrity, passion and commitment.”
