About Phoebe

Phoebe is currently completing a Master of Music (Orchestral Performance) at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, under the tutelage of Associate Professor Curt Thompson. She is a grateful recipient of the 2024 Corinna D’Hage Mayer String Scholarship. Prior to this, Phoebe completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne, and currently works as a part-time data scientist. Phoebe is very excited to be joining OV as a 2025 Fellow, and has greatly enjoyed playing in The Australian Ballet’s production of Carmen.

As a young soloist, Phoebe passed her LMusA with Distinction in 2017, and was later selected as a finalist in the 2017 Preston Youth Concerto Competition. She also competed as a semi-finalist in the Melbourne Youth Orchestra’s Virtuosity Competition in 2018 and was selected for VCE Top Class 2020. More recently, Phoebe competed as a finalist in the 2024/25 Kendall National Violin Competition. She has also enjoyed performing in solo masterclasses for renowned musicians such as Maxim Vengerov and Daniel Dodds, and in chamber collaborations with members of the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Australian String Quartet. As a passionate orchestral musician, Phoebe toured Asia with the Conservatorium’s Symphony Orchestra in 2023, and will be leading the orchestra this year as concertmaster. She also looks forward to joining Australian Youth Orchestra for their International Tour in Europe later this year.

The Richard Bonynge Fellowship program is fully funded by our generous benefactors Lady Potter AC CMRI with Margaret Ross AM & Dr Ian Ross
