About Rachael
Brisbane-born Rachael Hunt has been with Orchestra Victoria for 20 years. Coming from a musical family, she began learning piano at the age of six – before taking up the violin at school at the age of eight. She studied under Elizabeth Morgan and Carmel Kaine, and completed a Bachelor of Music (Hons.) at the University of Queensland and a Graduate Diploma of Music (Performance) at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. She has toured internationally with the Queensland Youth Orchestra and was the concertmaster of Camerata Australia, which toured the United Kingdom in 1997. She has performed with both the Queensland Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras. Her musical loves include Sibelius, Mahler, Michael Nyman and Philip Glass. She plays a Hill violin from 1880.
